In the U.S., it debuted at #1 on Top Album chart, #1 on the Overall Digital Album chart, and #1 on the Hard Music Album chart, as well as at #2 on the Billboard Top 200, and sold 115K in the first week of release. This was the first #1 Album for the Las Vegas hard-rockers. Impressive international chart numbers rolled in from Australia and Canada (#3), Germany and Sweden (#5), and the UK (#6), to name a few. Five Finger Death Punch have grown exponentially in just a few years, racking up 16 consecutive top 10 hits, five #1 hits, four gold and a platinum album. With the release of 2013’s The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Volume 1 (recently certified gold) and Volume 2, the band created continuous new content with which they outsold the majority of bands in their genre, selling 2 million albums over the past three years in North America alone. The band is currently taking Got Your Six around the world touring throughout 2017. Don’t miss the brand new lyric video for “Boots and Blood,” from Got Your Six, premiering tomorrow, April 27th. Five Finger Death Punch
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH (5FDP) is a rock band from Los Angeles. Formed in 2005, the group’s name is derived from classic martial arts cinema. The band consists of vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarists Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook, bassist Chris Kael, and drummer Jeremy Spencer.
Their debut album THE WAY OF THE FIST was released in 2007, and heralded rapid success for the band. The 2009 follow-up album WAR IS THE ANSWER further increased their popularity, leading to both albums being certified gold by the RIAA. The band’s third album, AMERICAN CAPITALIST, was released in October of 2011 and achieved gold status within the year. The band has co-headlined 2013’s Mayhem Festival Tour (US) and frequently can be seen playing the biggest international music festivals, such as Download (UK), Rock Am Ring (GER), Soundwave (AUS) and Knotfest (JP). Five Finger Death Punch are the recipients of the Radio Contraband Rock Radio Awards for “Indie Artist of the Year” in 2011, 2012 and 2013. They were also honored with the Radio Contraband Rock Radio Award for Album (AMERICAN CAPITALIST) and Song of the Year (“Coming Down”) in 2012.
Undoubtedly one of the most relevant and successful rock bands globally, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, dominated 2013 with the releases THE WRONG SIDE OF HEAVEN AND THE RIGHTEOUS SIDE OF HELL ─ VOLUME 1 and VOLUME 2. Both volumes debuted on the U.S. Billboard album chart at #2 (more notably, within a four-month period) and in the top ten mainstream charts all across the globe. The two albums feature three #1 radio hit singles (“Lift Me Up” featuring Rob Halford of Judas Priest, “Battle Born” and “Wrong Side Of Heaven”) and have combined sales of over 850,000 units to date. The multi-million selling rock titans’ single, “The Wrong Side Of Heaven” was their 14th consecutive top ten hit at Active Rock Radio and the video to the song has over 35 million views online. USA TODAY proclaimed VOLUME 2 elevates the group “…to the top of its game. Offering more than blind rage, though there’s certainly plenty, the songs live in the tension implied by the album’s title—aware of the implications of lashing out, ready to accept the consequences” (11/19/13). FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH have not only played shows across Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South East Asia and sold out their last European headlining tour; they also frequently perform at all major American (Rock On The Range, Aftershock, Carolina Rebellion etc.) and European festivals (Download, Hellfest, Novarock, Sweden Rock, Rock Am Ring, Rockavaria etc). FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will release their highly anticipated sixth full length album, GOT YOUR SIX on September 4, 2015. The new album features “Jekyll and Hyde”, their current Top 10 radio hit single and the album release date coincides with the start of an extensive Fall arena tour of North America followed by a European tour in November which will see the band headline Wembley Arena in London, UK.
Five Finger Death Punch Biography for Got Your Six
by Joe Daly
Throughout the ages, the mythologies of mankind have reserved a divine reverence for the number six. It is the first perfect number and the number representing harmony and creation. As such, six is regarded as uniquely lucky. This fall sees the release of Got Your Six — Five Finger Death Punch’s sixth and most ambitious outing yet. But as any of the guys will tell you, luck had nothing to do with it.
With Got Your Six, Five Finger Death Punch has taken a broad and utterly captivating step forward, tapping into a pure sonic density and jagged, gloves-off lyricism never hinted at by their previous efforts, while still delivering the taut muscularity and stadium-shaking choruses that have cemented their place as one of the most captivating and vital new voices in heavy metal.
Rare is the band today that can maintain the marauding pace and heroic output of Five Finger Death Punch. Consider that since forming in 2005, FFDP (singer Ivan Moody, guitarists Zoltan Bathory and Jason Hook, drummer Jeremy Spencer and bassist Chris Kael) has released six relentlessly bludgeoning albums that have not only sold millions of copies, but that have managed to grow progressively heavier and more provocative with each campaign. Their sawed-off, swaggering version of “Bad Company” earned them their first platinum certification and their most recent releases – Volumes 1 and 2 of The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell – each peaked at Number Two on the Billboard 200 while scoring Number One slots on both the Billboard Hard Rock and Rock Albums charts. If few bands could even dream of scaling such heights, it is nothing short of jaw-dropping that ten years into their legacy, Five Finger Death Punch has just released their boldest statement yet.
Reuniting with award-winning producer Kevin Churko (Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, Rob Zombie), the plan was simple — avoid anything that, when played live, could not split a mountain in half. Straight from the concussive roar of the opening title track, it’s abundantly clear that FFDP have exceeded even their own impossibly high expectations, harnessing the steroidal energy of their live show into fourteen explosive, riff-drenched anthems. From the bare-knuckled pugnacity of Jekyll And Hyde to the explosive hooks of Hell To Pay and I Question Everything, Got Your Six is a fearsomely heavy and wholly addictive collection that has drawn immediate praise for its scale and potency. Of the new album, Metal Hammer magazine writes, “FFDP have created something feral and provocative, conjuring a new dimension of heaviness without sacrificing the muscular hooks and galloping tempos that underpin their sonic identity. “
Dipping back into his roots, Ivan penned Boots And Blood, with its chest-beating singalong chorus, as a nod to his lifelong love of punk. Other tracks, such as the title track and No Sudden Movement will surely incite seething circle pits at the saw-toothed growl of the very first chords. Lyrically, Got Your Six showcases Ivan’s most personal statement yet. “I opened my entire chest for this record,” he says. “There are some musicians, actors and actresses out there that live behind masks. I just don’t want to do that, so this album was a chance for me to show everybody who I am.”
An exhilarating wind-in-the-hair joyride straight through the ring of the final note, Got Your Six sees Five Finger Death Punch claim their rightful seat among the elite of metal’s next generation and squarely establishes that they’re in it for the long haul. “The new album speaks to our legacy,” says Zoltan. “This is our declaration that we’re here to stay.” Never one to mince words, Ivan is a bit more direct, saying, “To have our sixth album represent our best effort yet speaks volumes to the band and to us as individuals. This is the real deal and I’m proud as fuck. ”
