Acoustic Guitar Legend Tommy Emmanuel Embarks On A Month Long Tour In November With World Renowned Acoustic Musician, David Grisman

Two-time GRAMMY nominee and world-renowned “fingerstyle” guitar legend Tommy Emmanuel will once again be bringing his passionate and infectious live show to the United States starting November 2017, touring alongside renowned acoustic musician David “Dawg” Grisman. Together, they will astound audiences with their effortless compositions and improvisational skills with stops across the Midwest and Eastern United States. Throughout the night, they will perform together and solo, playing fan favorites as well as new songs.

Tommy Emmanuel’s five-decade career has garnered hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide, along with two GRAMMY nominations. Maintaining a tour schedule of nearly 250 shows a year, Emmanuel has been voted Favorite Acoustic Guitarist in both Guitar Player Magazine and Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s reader polls. Emmanuel’s catalogue includes over twenty musical recordings of solos, duets, ensembles, cover tunes, originals, utilizing both electric and acoustic guitar. He has made six live performance DVDs, and six additional instructional DVDs. Tommy Emmanuel is an honorary Kentucky Colonel, a CGP (Certified Guitar Player), an Order of Australia Medalist (AM) and the holder of an honorary Master’s Degree (MA).  Australia in recognition of his commitment to rural Australia and contributions to music education.

For nearly half a century, mandolinist/composer/bandleader/producer David Grisman has been a guiding force in the evolving world of acoustic music. His musical range is wide and deep, embracing many styles, genres and traditions. An acoustic pioneer and innovator, David forged a unique personal artistic path, skillfully combining elements of the great American music/art forms of jazz and bluegrass with many international flavors and sensibilities to create his own distinctive idiom of “Dawg” music (the nickname given him by Jerry Garcia.) In doing so, he’s inspired new generations of acoustic string musicians, while creating his own niche in contemporary music.

Emmanuel just released Tommy Emmanuel – Music Gone Public, a DVD collection of “greatest hits” from Tommy’s previous PBS airings. It includes seven never-before-seen performances and musical collaborations, and features personal stories about the songs and performances from Tommy himself. Emmanuel’s program was a bit unique. Rather than highlight one concert, his episode combined many of his great performances for PBS over the last decade from previous features such as Center Stage, Tommy Emmanuel & Friends – Live from The Balboa Theatre, and Live and Solo from Pensacola, Florida.

Two of the most world renowned acoustic musicians Tommy Emmanuel, C.G.P. and David “Dawg” Grisman are embarking on a tour this November with stops across the Midwest and Eastern United States. Together, they will astound audiences with their effortless compositions and improvisational skills. Throughout the night, they will perform together and solo, with your favorite tunes and some new sounds. Get ready for a night to reminisce about for years to come.

Tommy Emmanuel is one of Australia’s most respected musicians. The legendary guitarist has a professional career that spans five decades and continues to intersect with some of the finest musicians throughout the world. One of only five musicians handpicked by his mentor, Chet Atkins, as a Certified Guitar Player (C.G.P), he’s piled up numerous accolades, including two Grammy nominations, two ARIA Awards from the Australian Recording Industry Association (the Aussie equivalent of the Recording Academy). A noted fingerstyle guitarist, Emmanuel frequently threads three different parts simultaneously into his material, operating as a one-man band who handles the melody, the supporting chords and the bass all at once. His talents, which translate in any language, carry him to the far corners of the globe, but Emmanuel never plays the same show twice, and he improvises large segments of every show.
